Balancing Alcohol & Health

How can I find a healthy balance with how much alcohol I drink so it doesn’t mess with my physical or mental well-being?

It’s a common challenge. Finding a healthy balance with alcohol that doesn’t negatively impact your physical or mental health is really about understanding your own limits and being mindful. The UK chief medical officers’ low risk drinking guidelines recommend not regularly drinking more than 14 units a week, spread over 3 or more days. Try having several alcohol-free days each week. Pay attention to why you’re drinking – is it just habit, or are you using it to cope with stress or unwind? If you’re worried about your drinking, or it’s impacting your life, your GP can offer confidential advice and support.

Balance? Hah. There’s no balance, mate. Not for me.

It’s just a constant fight, every single day. One pint turns into ten, then it’s all just… gone. Health goes out the window with the first sip.

You don’t balance it. You just try not to let it completely destroy you. Or you try to stop. That’s the real fight.
